Question #4:

Please rate my essay? I really need some help!?

Here it is:

This summer, my family and I spent a week of July in the quaint sea side town of Ningaloo, located in the western extremes of Australia.
One day, a scuba diving session was scheduled for our family. Looking at the calm, cerulean blue sea water one wouldn’t expect to see something stupendous underneath it but all my incredulity vanished as the flurry of bubbles which shrouded my vision as a result of diving into the water cleared and revealed to me a colourful underwater metropolis of coral.
I tried to exclaim “wow” but what came instead were a few bubbles through my diving mask as I saw the eerie brain coral, the peculiar table coral and the rainbow of colours which painted these underwater marvels making them look astonishingly beautiful. The striped clownfish, the colour changing cuttlefish, the Yellow Tangs and the little damsel fish increased the beauty tenfold.
As I began plucking coral samples, I was unaware of a huge figure looming up behind me until I turned around and looked it straight in the eyes. It was at least 12 metres long and had a black body which was striped and spotted with pale blue. I immediately recognised it as a whale shark and didn’t panic as whale sharks are known to be very docile creatures. The titan serenely floated over to me and gave me a playful nudge. I realised it was a friendly creature so I grabbed onto a fin gently and to my surprise the creature began to swim, pulling me along for a ride. I mounted onto its back, holding onto its fin for support. It was like riding a horse except much more exciting. The shark began to move up and down, twisted its body and swam in loop de loops with such speed it was like an underwater roller coaster! Before I knew it the shark began to swim towards the surface and it actually leaped into the air like a dolphin. It was truly an enchanting experience with the salty sea wind in my hair, a beautiful sunset and riding my new friend (whom I incidentally named Obsidian)!

The topic was "An enchanting summer experience" and I came up with this (this is a true story mind you).

Question #11:

In regards to scuba diving and snorkeling.... pressure equalization...?

I have been an avid snorkeler and free diver (no tanks or snorkel or fins) for a few years and have never had problems equalizing pressure in the ears. I did a free dive in silver springs glen in ocala, florida a couple of weeks ago. the deepest point is about 25 ft. i started my free dive with no problems. when i got to about 18 feet i couldn't equalized pressure in the left ear no matter what i tried! i even shallowed up to about 12 feet and still couldn't equalize. i decided to push through it and right before i got to the bottom my left ear gave way... i was extremely dizzy and disoriented and VERY lucky i knew to stay calm and surfaced. i barely made it to wading depth and i kept falling all over the place. What went wrong. i have never had this issue before...why now? what other ways could i have attemted equalization without having punctured my ear drum?
